Have been waiting SOOOOO long for this foal to arrive. Seemed to be the longest pregnancy ever! Was CERTAIN it was a colt, WOW what a surprise when out came this TINY little blue eyed bundle. ALL legs and ALL filly!!

Chilli is gorgeous from the tip of her pink nose to the end of her white tail. I was hoping for some white with an overo/splashed white mum and tobiano dad. They certainly didn't disappoint. This was Angels first foal and she took to motherhood like a duck to water. Considering she had a really hard time getting this tiny girl out. Thankfully we were there to lend a hand, or baby Chilli, would not be with us. Maybe Angel wouldn't either. Thank god for foaling alarms!!!

Also, Angel due to her Splashed White gene is deaf, this gene has been passed on to her darling daughter Chilli. Sadly they don't hear each other calling, which brings a lump to your throat, but they are working it out together.

Dec 08 - Chilli is the most independent foal i have ever had. From about 2wks old, she was off with her friend Amber and only going back to mum for a drink. NOW shes in a paddock with 6 others and you NEVER see her with her mum! I was worried she wouldn't have any friends to play with, with having no other foals. But it hasn't phased her in the slightest. She has so much character and personality. An absolute card!! JUMP, i have never seen a foal obsessed with jumping anything in her way like she is.... Chilli is 22" at 9wks old, with a hoof trim already.

NEWSFLASH

1/1/09 - What a way to start of the year....Our darling little Chilli aka WP Shanina, has broken one of her back legs in a terrible paddock accident on New Years Eve. Her hock has been smashed, and the bottom of her tibia. We are fighting to keep her alive, and hoping it will mend enough for her to hobble around pain free. Taking each day as it comes... If you look up the word DETERMINATION in the dictionary, you will find a picture of our Chilli, I am sure! The way she gets around on 3 legs is just incredible...Like she was born that way!

Update 20/1/09 - Chilli has become accustomed to life on 3 legs so easily. She is such an inspiration. She has now had 2 weeks with no pain killers, and is in no obvious pain. She is incredible. So full of life and hope and brings us so much joy. She is now putting slight weight on the tip of her toe when standing still.

When a kids gotta drink, a kids gotta drink!!!!

We were expecting a pinto (mum being homozygous) but NEVER expected a cool marked little guy like this. Homozygous as well it would seem!!! (we will get him tested if kept as a colt) SO happy with our boy Shiney's first foal. This cross with Rosie was an excellent one and we are just rapt... Last year Rosie had a Phantom pregnancy and hubby was beginning to think this was a phantom as well. So just HAD to name him Phantom! This boy is SUCH a Mini Me of his beautiful mum!! (please excuse the size of mum, but when you have 15 inches of rain in 6 weeks and horses that won't stop eating, this is the result!!!)

Phantom is a striking upright boy. Major presence since the moment he was born. He has a lovely little head, long length of neck, lovely LONG legs and a compact little body. His amazing colour is a real added bonus AND he has one blue eye. Neither parent do, this has come down from his grandpa Shiner....Sadly Phantom will have to be sold, please contact us, if he catches your eye. He will excel in the showring - and this boy was MADE for the pinto ring! We will be selling Phantom as a show gelding.
